Saturday, Telemark Ball, HBDA

Saturday in Nanakuli was a very nice day. A few things wrong, but mostly OK. My feet still giving me trouble so I made plans to walk. Got ready early and left the bike at home. Walked to the bus stop and felt very good.

Got the C bus a little late but I still got to Ala Moana Center by 6:30 and then the 8 bus to the Marriott, a short walk and I was at HBDA a little after seven.

The place was jumping, people enjoying their food all over the place. (al fresco). The reception table always has such nice people and naturally I had to take the photo. So we got a few extra people, nuttin' wrong wid dat.

Standing: Richard and Anna Lum, Patrick Chee, Karen White,
Stephanie and Cliff Uegio. Sitting: Christine and Joe Echeverri
and Linda Nagamine.

Went around casing the joint, a couple dances and saying hello to all my friends and then found the Ala Wai people and naturally I have to get the Telemark Queen, Gregoria Carrion.

Standing: Herbert Omizo, Joe Ramuelb, Greg Wong and
Danny Carrion, Escort for the Queen. Sitting: Ana Ramuelb,
Delia Wong and Telemark Queen, Gregoria Carrion.

Danny and Greg are some of my longest time friends at HBDA. I don't know if they remember when we danced a formation Cha Cha Cha, thirty years ago for just such an HBDA occasion as now, I believe it was at a Hotel. It was choreographed by Paul Lee and my partner was Helen Matuoka.

A few dances here and there and I came across a whole slew of Kapolei members. I had thought about getting a photo of three or four couples, but wow, this was a whole pile of good Kapolei dancers.

But not to worry, I plan on being there on Monday and getting a photo of the board with dance instructiors, and one of three couples, perhaps even a second of another three couples.

The CDs I distributed for the American Style Teachers were donated by Dance Vision in Las Vegas. They send them to me and they know I don't sell them, I give them away.

Who gets them? Since they are all American Style music, then those are the teachers that got them. Stands to reason?

Most of us in Hawaii are connected to their Competitions in Las Vegas on the mainland. with California and Nevada the most prominent ones.

If you think we should make contact with others on the West Coast, you are right.

And June Kadomoto is coming up with a goodie on this Telemark Ball for the Town Dancer blog. Tune in, probably a couple days.

I left with plenty of time to get to the Salsa dance but changed my mind. I got the first bus going to Ala Moana Center and got there with plenty of time to get the last bus going to the Waianae Coast, the C bus.

Got home before ten, with enough time to make myself a Rum & Coke and get the preliminaries on this blog.
