Quarterly Publication, Our Dance Blogs

Our present Hawaiian Blogosphere: Our Dance Scene
Now Postponed

As in any endeavor to do anything, I have invited everyone to it. Then "they" make the decision of joining or not joining. But it must be understood that "they" have made that decision and many will have made that decision for their entire groups or whatevah. Furthermore, to be ignored is a very loud and clear statement. Should be easy for anyone to understand, even me. I have things to do and I must to be on my way.

"The notes I handle no better than many pianists. But the pauses between the notes - ah, that is where the art resides!" ~Artur Schnabel

But to give them all some time to think things over, I am going to postpone the publication of the first issue of "Our Hawaii Blogosphere." The latest suggestions are for a Christmas edition. Perhaps even only once a year would be enough to review all the blogs, since most of the information for the reader/dancers willl be on the blogs.

I should have it ready for printing by November 15th. I am still thinking it over. I will start with the blogs that are already in our blogosphere plus perhaps a few that will have communicated their wish to be included.

Town Dancer: Downtown Honolulu and daytime dance news. It will tend to have more of the Rootzi Tootzi type dancers. Has been in the number one spot for a long time. And it will probably be the first to go independent. They will make their own rules. Then I can phase my way out to dedicate my time to the other blogs.

"Stranger In Paradise" by the Four Aces

West Side Story: Now running neck and neck with Town Dancer. Down the Waianae Coast, over to Ewa, and up to the North Shore. Moving very fast and growing in interest from many. Kapolei Chapter HBDA now leading the charge into the West. Why stop at the Waianae Coast? There is the North Shore and Southwest shore too. There are signs that Waipahu may be awakening and it may be the answer for West Side Story to take the lead.

Dancing in the Dark:
Downtown Honolulu, and night time spot dance news. Now, solidly entrenched behind West Side Story in average hits per day and should be ready to be spun off on its own shortly after the new year. It will have a bigger, more Universal, social dancer group and it has just hit the 2000 total hit mark.

Moanalua Corridor: That section that has emerged so prominently in dancing, from Pearl City, the start of the Moanalua Road to Salt Lake, the end of Moanalua Road. Includes, Pearl City, Pearlridge, Aiea, Foster Village, Aliamanu and Salt Lake too. It is developing very nicely with places to dance, night clubs, studios and dance lessons available from HBDA and Dance Hawaii. With the new developing "every weekend of dancing" there will be a big increase in interest, guaranteed.

"Rock and Roll All Night" by Kiss

Beyond Oahu: Some small mix of Oahu news with plenty beyond to the Mainland, and the Pacific. Still in the development stages. I am slowly getting more information for this blog and it has now gone over 1000 total hits.

Bailando En La Oscuridad: Cover general dancing on Oahu and also beyond including Latin America but in Spanish. Also still in the development stages.

I will leave it to Frank to decide if he wishes to let his two blogs in. Two good blogs and they are already in the links but one never knows for sure. Kauai has a nice blog too, we would love to have them with us. Also an open invitation to any other "dancing" blogs.

"Brand New Key" by Melanie

Our priority is the prospect of making one of "our" blogs (Town Dancer first) into an independent blog with its own Administrators and Guest Authors before the year end. And it can join Franks blogs and Kauai as independents. And eventually all of the blogs should be independent with interlocking Guest Authors limited to two blogs.

Then I can rest easy for there will be a strong diversity of opinion in our dance environment that will be publicized frequently and the vicious lying cliques will recede into the background to a very minimal influence. We will have everything, "up front." Total number of dancers will probably double.
