"Hot Rod Lincoln" by Commander Cody
As our readers gain more knowledge and realize that dancing for competition has to be done "correctly" because it is going to be judged. But they will also learn that all dancing cannot be painted with the same brush. Theirs is a different type of dance than the real thing.
I see people every day in Night Clubs or wherever dancing salsa with real dance movements and enjoyment. Swing dancing with real dance movements and enjoyment. And even Line dancing with real dance movements and enjoyment and none of them alike or prescribed. And everyone of them seems to be doing it in sheer joy, much, much different than dancing that is primarily to be seen. That is their "raison d'etre."

In sociology, as in general usage, "Da Rootzi Tootzis" are a hypothetical group of relatively small size, that is dominant within a large society, having a privileged status perceived as being envied by others of a lower line of disorder.
On the island of Oahu, the distinguishing characteristic is that they dance the "correct" way. By default, everyone else dances "incorrectly." And that comes directly from the International Style of Dance which is for competitions.

The elite at the top of the social strata almost invariably find themselves in a position of leadership, whether it be expected or volunteered, and often subjects the holders of elite status to pressure to maintain that leadership position as part of the status. And yet very very few of them on our Oahu dance world really know anything about "dancing."
The elite theory as developed by political scientists is that all sufficiently large social groups will have some kind of elite group within them that actively participates in the group's political dynamics. We are gradually building up one in the West.

On Oahu, the Universal dancers are just starting to coalesce and maybe become a force to resurrect dancing in the Night Clubs along with more local locations. Yes, I believe it is more likely to develop in the West.
Elitism eventually draws envy and resentment from the lower classes and the counter-elite (the new Universal dancers.) There are cases where elites arguably use this resentment of an elite to maintain their position.
The beginnings and rise of Modern Dance was a revolution against the Rootzi Tootzis in the Ballet establishment. We have a new one as a work in progress is on its merry way on this island too.
