The key is in the Information Contributors, which also includes photos. Then it becomes Social Media. It is not that now. For the moment it remains just a one editor show. And in this case, terrible.
"To be obliged to beg our daily happiness from others bespeaks a more lamentable poverty than that of him who begs his daily bread."
Merengue: The Dance of the People, can be traced back recently to a 19th century Dominican Republic. However, it is still in doubt, of whether it came from the original natives from Cuba; 1500 years ago, or from the natives of the Antilles islands 1000 years ago. We have mostly hearsay from the first four hundred years of occupation by Europeans and very little written in letters.
Recent hearsay in the latter part of the last century is that it came from Africa. Some say with certainty that it comes from Nigeria, some will "prove" that it comes from North Africa, ad nauseum, Since it originated as a lower-class dance form, it is a very simple, step, step, step. And the same form is danced throughout the world including Africa to this day.

It can be danced to 1, 2 count, or 1, 2, 3, 4 count. Local Merengue usually uses an 8 count, but if you wish you can use a 16 count. The musical accompaniment includes string instruments and accordions, synonymous with the impoverished art in the 19th century.
The particular sway of the Merengue did develop in the Dominican Republic but this was long before the first Illegal Aliens arrived. These are some of founding forms of Latin dance, and there are other genres still used today that are important to experience if you want to fully learn about Latin dance. But the dances come from the ten million inhabitants that were in the Americas when the first illegals arrived.
Merengue has even been recognized as the official dance of the nation, since it became so popular and brought the country much pride. Now, Bachata is the rage as a fad dance among the young and of course it also came from Africa. What none of these so called experts on Africa know is that the great Toltec Civilization in Mexico, (BC) had ten times the knowledge of music and dance that anyone in Africa ever had even two milleniums later.

And we don't even have to mention mathematics and astronomy. The Mayan Calendar 500 AD, was the most accurate calendar in the entire world for 1000 years.
There is a famous painting in Leon, Nicaragua in which a Conquistador (with helmet and armor) and a Catholic priest in his robes are standing in front of the great stone Aztec Calendar. The quote underneath says, "What Calendar?"
