Da Music

Most of the people you see with an ear plugs and listening to music do not know much about music. They may not even really listen to it. It is only a security blanket to minimize their loneliness.
"How High The Moon" by Les Paul and Mary Ford

To prove this Joshua Bell, one of the greatest Violinists in the world put on a baseball cap, a long sleeve T-shirt and jeans and went to New York City’s L’Enfant Plazza subway station and played soaring melodies that have entranced audiences for centuries.

He had his violin case open in front of him, revealing seed money of a few bills and coins. Not only that but he took with him a priceless, perfect pitch 294 year old Stradivarius violin. He played for almost 45 minutes and most everyone ignored him, though some did stop a bit and drop some money.

Total take, 32 dollars and change. Nice people, they just don't know Jack about music. And furthermore, they will never realized it.

"Sometimes you have to look at the results, not the intentions.”

Music in the old days:
You went to the club. And as per usual there would be socializing with any friends you would meet. The orchestra would take a while to tune up. The drinks would be ordered by the bottle.

The first dance would always be so welcomed that there would be some applause. Since it was dance music they would not make it too long. And there would be an interval of up to a minute between numbers. Also an intermission of maybe fifteen minutes. If was not a frantic affair in the sense that it is today.

This was very gratifying because it was a "social" dance and it was to socialize. Did anyone ever worry whether is was heel, toe, toe, heel or other way around?
"Git atta heah" Light conversation at the table. New arrangements were even made for the next dance.

When they say dancers don't drink, they mean that modern dancers don't drink. The music is incessant and never stops, no one stands a chance of stopping for a drink.

The new place in the West. (I think it is going to be called Club Vanilla) will have to try the old mode so that people can "social" dance which means the combination of music, dance and socializing in equal measures.

"Music is the shorthand of emotion."
