Armed Forces Fundraiser Dance Saturday

Saturday, I left home while the sun was still shining. Caught the right bus in Nanakuli, put my music on and had a nice trip into town, all the way to the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

"An intellectual is someone who can listen to the "William Tell Overture" without thinking of the Lone Ranger."

A few errands and a short bike ride to Kapiolani and Kalakaua and got the bike on the B bus going to Waikiki at Kapahulu. From there it is only a skip and jump to the Ala Wai Golf Course and the HBDA shindig.

I wanted to get there by seven to get the early birds and the party was going very nicely. The people at the reception table were old time friends and I spread my copies of the July issue on the table. I then raffled off a CD and Shirley Ota won it. She mention a mistake of calling her Dorothy. I thought I had corrected that.

Then I began to make my rounds distributing the July issue. Lot's of good people there. And I met my good friends the Laderta gang, Marie is still recovering from the death of her mother. But I got a picture, naturally. It was a natural except that I missed one couple. But I get all of them regularly so there will be another time.

Then I got a photo of Herb and Shirley Ota for the Good People section. And when I made the next run around, I saw a possible good picture of the group there, also three rows thick. Nice bunch of people. I think they are Pearl City Chapter. Then I got a photo of Susan Masumoto, for the Fake Magazine cover. I have to find a nice fashion magazine for her.

Made more rounds and before I knew it, 60 copies had evaporated. I gave Herbie ten and then I saw Tad and gave him a couple more, all going to Makua Alii. Good thing the August issue is Dancing in the Dark.

So I left early enough to try to get the last C bus back home. Got the #13 bus, left me off at Kalakaua and Kapiolani. A short ride and I just made it in time.

June will probably make a nice write up for the Town Dancer blog and perhaps even Calvin Ota, he was there too.
