"If you pursue good with labor, the labor passes away but
the good remains; if you pursue evil with pleasure, the
pleasure passes away and the evil remains." ~Cicero
Family photos and documents are often among a family's most prized possessions because they provide a tangible image link to the past. The same holds true for our dancing environment photos.
Much discussion is currently centered on “social networking”. The family remains our most important and core social network. However, in dancing we have an extension of our personal world and often values and interests are reflected in family and club photo collections and provide a sense of connectedness as well.
"Crazy" By Melveena Leeds
Pictures at times are beyond understanding level. If it wasn't for the pictures which are available today, then there would so many aspects of life which would be un-reviled and untold. Therefore pictures are not only for viewing but also for getting knowledge from them.
In our dancing world we see all kind of images around us such as faces, scenarios, dancers, dance floors. And it becomes important to record dance events and incidents.
However, for some, money has to enter into the equation. We must avoid these if at all possible. If we go to an Al Franz Studio Showcase and are allowed to take photos, they appear all over, including our blogs. It is added public relations to the function and everybody wins.
"Get The Party Started" By Pink
There is probably nothing that is more sensitive to the human brain than the images we see but we cannot recollect the memories, hence we need photographs. And in our blogs, our interest is not commercial but to communicate to our friends, the reader/dancers of our blogosphere. And "our group" is coalescing very nicely and of course, it is nice that it is only for those that "wish" to join.
Pictures work like icons or a shortcut that accesses our memory and triggers our feelings as if it is part of our auto reflexes.
The old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" still holds true today. So send them in, we are all friends and can use this social aspect of our dance connection.
"In about the same degree as you are helpful, you will be happy."
