Blood powered tattoo display

Blood powered tattoo display

This "Digital Tattoo Interface" is a Bluetooth device made of silicone. It has a thin electronic screen with touch interface, which allows information to be displayed just like a tattoo. The display uses tiny microscopic spheres which can be coloured from clear to black. The device allows communication with other Bluetooth devices that are within or outside the body.

The device is powered by a coin-sized fuel cell that converts the glucose and oxygen from blood to electricity. The blood will flow into the device and flow out via another tube back to the vein. Though the device is always on, you can turn off the display by a push of the button on the skin.

Pretty interesting concept. You might also be interested in our post about To-Do Tattoo.
